Tunnel Top Park is a community initiated park set on top of a train Tunnel in Dogpatch.
Alta Plaza Playground
The tiled benchs for Alta Plaza were designed as part of the overall renovation of the park. Signs for the restrooms were added as were accent tile for the interiors. A handmade tile sign was created for the kiosk near the playground with a mosaic design on the other side facing the playground.
San Rafael Fountain
Tiled fountain designed for the front entryway of a private residence in San Rafael. The design was inspired by the gardens surrounding the property.
Lincoln Park Stairway
Hand made tile depicting styalized designs and patterns derived from the natural world. The handmade tile forms the central design with donor tiles on either side.
The 30 foot wide tiled stairway was a 2 phase project initiated by Friends of Lincoln Park and Katherine Burke School. The scope of work includes the stairway, 10 Pillars and 3 benches.
Jardin de Niños
The fountain and seating created with handmade tile and mosaic are based on a bird theme.
Commissioned by Redwood City, the project was a collaboration with Interpay Design and Colette Crutcher
This tiled seating bench was commissioned by the graduating medical students of UCSF to commemorate one of their professors. Itis located in the courtyard of the student commons area.
The design for this tiled staircase is based on decorative patterns drawn from various cultures, including Adinkra cloth from Ghana, Native American painted pottery, woven pattern from Central America, Japanese and Indonesian fabrics, paisley designs from India and Middle Eastern tile patterns.
Community workshops were held at the Willie Mays Boyd and Girls Club for youth and adults. The project was commissioned through the San Francisco Arts Commission. The project was in collaboration with Colette Crutcher.
Argonne Elementary School
This tile design adorns the street facing wall of school and celebrates the school garden with flora and fauna and poetry written by the students.
This tile design was created and fabricated for 3 seating benches in the newly renovated Cesar Chavez Park in the Fruitvale neighborhood in Oakland. Tiles were stamped and carved using Aztec and Mayan imagery. Workshops were conducted with children and teenagers to make and glaze tiles used in the patterned areas.
The project was commissioned by the Oakland Arts Commission and was made in collaboration with Colette Crutcher
Hidden Garden Steps
This tiled staircase is the second project in Golden Gate Heights. Inspired by the 16th Ave Tiled Steps, neighbors formed a community group and fundraised for this project. The design is based on an over-sized garden with native plants. Community workshops allowed neighbors and donors the opportunity to help with the mosaic.
16th Ave Tiled Steps
16th Ave Tiled Steps is a grassroots project initiated by the local community and was installed in 2005. The sweeping sea to sky design covers 163 steps and was the first collaboration between Aileen Barr and mosaic artist Colette Crutcher. This grassroots project was funded through donor tiles which form a part the overall design.
